Before and After School
The After School - Across The Street encompasses three weekly activities:
Tuesdays: a tutoring program provides a quiet, safe place for students to receive academic support from adult supervisors and competent high school volunteers. Students receive help with homework in addition to other activities which serve to strengthen their areas of academic weakness and receive instruction in study and test-taking skills. Computer literacy focusing on educational components is also an integral part of the instruction.
Thursdays: after school program provides a safe, fun place for students to have a snack, connect, complete crafts, take part in creative activities, music experiences and video games, engage with special guest speakers from the community, play basketball and much more. This is a non-religious program offered in partnership with McKnight Middle School. The program is supervised by volunteer adults and high school students.
Fridays, a free pancake breakfast from 7:15 – 9:00am throughout the school year to McKnight Middle School students who would like a place to go before school. This is a time for them to connect, work on homework and play basketball or board/video games.
