Pride Team

Pride Team helps make St. Matthew’s a welcoming and affirming place for LGBTQIA+ people and their families.

We celebrate together, join Pride events, share helpful resources, and help our church keep learning and growing.

We believe LGBTQIA+ people are a valued part of our church and our community.

Whether you are LGBTQIA+, love someone who is, or simply want to help build a more welcoming church, you are welcome here.

Why Pride Matters to Us

The Pride Team at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church helps build a church where all people are welcomed as they are. We believe God’s love is BIG, JOYFUL, and FOR EVERYONE. We believe love comes first. We value hope, kindness, open hearts, and each person’s story. Following Jesus, we work to welcome, support, and celebrate LGBTQIA+ people in our church and community.

Our mission
is to joyously, unapologetically, celebrate the ways God is reflected in our queer, transgender, lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, intersex, and plus siblings. To also engage in community outreach and education to promote acceptance and equity. We believe in the power of love and faith to bring about positive change, and we are committed to creating a brave, supportive, and welcoming environment for everyone.

Contact Pastor Rachel if you would like to learn more or get connected.

Reconciling In Christ

LUTHERANS FOR FULL PARTICIPATION

Since 1974, ReconcilingWorks: Lutherans for Full Participation
has advocated for the full welcome, inclusion, and equity of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual/aromantic (LGBTQIA+) Lutherans in all aspects of the life of their Church, congregations, and community.

ReconcilingWorks advocates for the acceptance, full participation, and liberation of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions within the Lutheran Church.

We keep expanding the welcome, liberating those who are forced to live in the margins. To keep dismantling barriers and building bridges. To keep working until all of God's beloved have equity.

We believe that God values and embraces each person as a beloved child, that the Spirit gives a diversity of gifts for the common good, and that Jesus Christ calls us to work for justice.
